President's Report - From the Driver's Seat

On Sunday June 11, we had a poker run through Webster to Pultneyville to Williamson back to Webster. Thirty-Six members attended, and 18 Corvettes! What a sight on a beautiful day peering back through the rear-view mirror at a line of 18 Corvettes in a row! We raised $144 for our charity, ALS. Sharon Stevens won $100 first place best poker hand, and donated $50 back to the charity.

On June 26th, the Corvette Club meeting was held at Bill Gray’s restaurant in Henrietta. There were 82 members attending with 45 cars present. I had lost my voice due to an upper respiratory infection. My trusty secretary/spouse read what I could not speak. Thank God for her! We offered a moment of silence for the memory of Kitty Van Bortel’s mom, Patricia.

There is still some confusion about new memberships. Upon receipt of membership payment to the treasurer, the Vice President then sends a welcome letter and kit containing the valued membership card to the New Member.

Renewals are done differently. When you renew online it is in two steps. The first is to register, the second is to send a check to the club at PO Box 23972. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the acquisition of your membership card. Or attend a meeting where you can pick one up.

We chose to make this a fast meeting as it was about fun and food. Mother Nature made it even more intimate by torrentially raining on our picnic outside…which forced it inside! It was hot sticky and too tight! Inside noise made it nearly impossible to hear anything. We may want to find another venue to meet our growing numbers…again!

The Club Golf Outing on 7/8 was a tremendous success. Thirteen golfers attended - fun was had by all. The awards were handed out at the Summer Picnic (7/9) on the following day.

Once again, the Summer Picnic was spectacular. There were 81 cars present, 141 club members! Great Food, Good Grog, the social event of the season.

Our next meeting is Monday, August 28th Barton Hots will be serving their culinary treats.

Remember: Wear Your Name Tags At Our Events & Meetings!!

Thanks,

George Werner,
2017 RCC President
